Vacation Rentals for Large Families
We've stayed in all kinds of places when traveling with family:
Tent-camping
Glamping in a yurt
Crashing with friends or family
Swanky resorts
Not-so-swanky hotels and inns
Homes for rent on the beach
Vacation cabins in the mountains
Sweet BnBs in Europe
But truly, when traveling on a budget and looking for comfy, cozy beds plus a fully outfitted kitchen to boot, your most affordable option is booking large vacation rentals so everyone can spread out.
Advantages to renting vacation homes for Large Families
Before I show you some fantastic large family vacation rentals, let’s cover the huge advantages to going with big vacation homes, cabins, and cabanas:
Nightly fee for a rental home is usually cheaper than hotel accommodations, even in popular destinations.
Way more room to spread out. Why cram your family in 400 square feet when you can have 1800+ square feet?
More privacy. Many large vacation homes include a hot tub - that you don't have to share with anyone else.
Fully outfitted kitchen helps you sleep in (no breakfast hours), save money, and eat healthier. Dining out becomes a treat and something to look forward to on vacation.
Your own personal laundry room enables you to pack light.
Owners are super helpful and ready to answer questions. Plus, they give great suggestions of where to go and what to do.
Some large vacation homes are dog-friendly. Bonus!
Kid and baby-friendly amenities often included. For example: lug less stuff knowing a pack-n-play is already there for your use.
No hidden fees and no surprises. The total cost discussed with the owner is what you pay. Plus, if you take good care in the home, you'll get your damage deposit back.
If you are a last-minute planner, many owners are willing to negotiate the price for last-minute bookings. We've saved hundreds, if not thousands, this way.
Now on to our favorite large vacation rentals in some of the best vacation spots in the USA and beyond!
Loved this dreamy, spacious vacation cabin in Columbia Falls, Montana just minutes away from the west entrance of Glacier National Park.

Marathon, Florida - the Middle Keys
While we loved Cape San Blas, our family decided to try a different part of Florida. So we headed to the Keys for snorkeling and fishing over spring break one year.
We rented a boat since our vacation home in Coral Lagoon had a boat slip. WE HAD A BLAST. Throw in a swimming pool just steps away from the house, plus state park beaches and our week was made!
This was one of our best spring break family destinations yet and there are plenty of vacation rentals for large families in the area.
Cape San Blas, Florida
Our favorite beach vacation in Florida, you won’t find any high-rise condominiums along this 17-mile long peninsula.
You’ll find wonderful homes for rent at the beach. Many of them are literally just steps from the beach.
Just past Port St. Joe, this quiet cape awaits to help you relax and play on the Gulf side and the Bay side.
White sugar sands invite you to put your feet up and stay a while.
Vacation rentals for large families, multigenerational vacations, or for multi-family vacations are easy to find in Cape San Blas, Florida.

Orange County Beaches in California
Looking for a beach vacation in southern California?
Orange County beaches are some of the best along the Pacific Ocean in SoCal.
Laguna Beach, San Clemente, Dana Point, and Newport Beach just to name a few.
We found ourselves going back to Laguna beaches three different days over our recent Spring Break trip.
Even though we stayed in San Clemente and loved its state beach and long strolls there, we loved launching our Isle Megalodon multi person paddle board out on the ocean from Crescent Bay Beach in Laguna.
Easily find homes for rent at the beach, like this San Clemente gem. This roomy, comfy beach home sleeps 10 and is within walking distance to all the area’s best beaches.

When it comes to outdoor adventure travel, Glacier National Park should be at the top of everyone’s bucket list.

Snowmass / Aspen, Colorado
Just this summer, we spent four day and five adventure-filled days in mountains of Snowmass and Aspen. Let me just say we'll be back as the entire area around Independence Pass has become our favorite nearby playground for long weekends with family and friends.
Biking, hiking to the famous Maroon Bells (looming above!), spying the Aspens changing colors, plus snow skiing and more make this a year-round destination.
Ten of us (two families) stayed in this awesome large vacation rental with killer views in Snowmass Village, just a few minutes from Aspen.
Sevilla, Spain
Flamenco, bullfighting, tapas, history, cafe con leche*, and more, a week in Andalucia (or southern Spain) turned out to be the best 50th anniversary celebration idea ever for my parents.
*Café con leche is a Spanish coffee beverage consisting of strong and bold coffee mixed with scalded milk in approximately a 1:1 ratio. You MUST try it.
Basing ourselves in Sevilla, Spain, we experienced urban sprawl mixed with old town charm, and all of our sites were within easy walking reach. This city and road trips to nearby destinations re-tell Moorish and Christian history throughout the countryside.
Just a leisurely 10-15 minute stroll from dinner, shopping, and historic sites, our spacious 5 bedroom flat was just right for the 10 of us.
Where are you favorite big family vacation rentals and why? We’d love to know!
