Hit the road or have an RV setup and delivered so you can put your feet up at the campsite
RV delivery and setup Options Make renting one a Dream in 2023
Lucking out with four nights sans kids mid-summer, my husband and I first booked an Outdoorsy campervan rental in July 2021 to see what all the hype was about.
We hit the road to see for ourselves if RV rentals in Colorado (and all over the USA) live up to their claim to fame.
Then in June 2022, we booked an RV rental for a family reunion in Angel Fire New Mexico, but this time we capitalized on the RV delivery and setup option of a camper trailer for our family.
An RV rental with delivery means no towing and no hooking up water and electricity - we just showed up and slept like babies.
RV rental versus Ownership
I’ve watched my parents own several new motor coaches and fifth wheel trailers over the past decade and the headaches they end up with in maintenance and storage alone makes us run the other direction right. As retirees, they have time to deal with issues; we do not.
We are fully convinced that renting an RV is ideal in our stage of life. With full time work, two kids at home, two kids in college, plus no room to store an RV, we save a lot of time and money by NOT owning an RV.
AND the fact that many RV owners will deliver and set up an RV for you is icing on the cake.
While there are so many choices for RV rentals in Colorado, I chose to book a campervan with Outdoorsy. We were so impressed with the user friendly platform and professional communication back and forth with the owner.
We see why the Outdoorsy RV rental site has been dubbed the “Airbnb of RVs.”
While we’ve got car camping perfected, we had been itching to explore Colorado in a campervan. And since, we are contemplating owning a campervan once retired, we figured it would be wise to test drive a few first.
RV delivery to your campsite makes glamping like this a breeze
Do you Already Own an RV?
Did you know you can make money renting your RV out when you’re not using it? As much as $50,000 per year!
Again, while we daydream a lot about owning an RV, our already tight monthly budget, my husband’s non-remote job, and still having kids at home low-key means renting an RV in Colorado a much wiser financial choice for us right now. We simply wouldn’t use it enough.
Renting a campervan and a camping trailer on Outdoorsy’s RV rental site ended up being two super fun, seamless experiences and we’re here to tell you about it.
Whether you own an RV and you’re thinking about renting your RV out this Outdoorsy review is just for you.
Table of contents
What is a Campervan?
In a nutshell, although small in size, a campervan is considered an RV since it provides livable space and can be driven from place to place.
Ideal for two people, but some seat and sleep 4. Perfect for a romantic getaway or with older kids who can tent camp outside once you reach your destination.
A campervan is just big enough to provide all the essentials (maybe even a small toilet!) needed for traveling and living, making it an ideal way to camp and go on outdoor adventures.
Some have platform beds, fixed and ready to go. Others have dinette areas that require a few minutes to transform into your bed each night.
To get an idea of the endless possibilties based on the needs of you and yours, there are currently 1,278 RV rentals in Denver — lots of options!
You can easily fly into a big city like Denver, or wherever you want to go, and then choose the RV delivery service to you upon arrival.

What we liked (and didn’t) about our RV Rentals
So we rented a super rad Mercedes Sprinter campervan in Boulder, Colorado in 2021.
You can imagine there are a lot of Colorado RV rentals, and specifically campervans in Colorado Springs and Denver right now — they are snatched up in a hurry in summer, so book ahead.
The, in June 2022, we rented a camper trailer from Outdoorsy.com.
The best part? It was delivered and set up ahead of time at Golden Eagle RV Park in Eagle Nest New Mexico.
When our 6 night stay was over, we took out the trash and drove off. The RV owner came and towed it away and cleaned it up after us.
Glamping made so easy and we loved our summer vacation exploring around Angel Fire New Mexico!

When had a camper trailer delivered to our campground in Eagle Nest, New Mexico. It was so nice to arrive and have it all set up, hooked up to water and electricity and ready to go. My sister’s family did the same.
This is a great option if you are not accustomed to towing an RV trailer or do not feel comfortable setting it all up.
We loved it and would choose the RV delivery service option again.

Look for ones that include the option for RV delivery to campsite — and also check with your campground that they will allow delivery before you arrive as well.

Class B - A little bigger than a campervan but just as photogenic.
Class C - Great for first timers and families who need a little more space than a Class B. Drives like a truck. Perfect for family of 4.
Class A Motorhome - Drive the nation in luxury on wheels. Like driving a bus. See examples.

Can I work from the RV with WIFI?
Sure thing, if you must! Here are four popular ways to connect to WiFi if you need to check back in at the office:
Cellular - same connection as your phone, when reception is good.
Satellite - a dish mounted on the top of your RV; reliable unless the conditions aren’t right.
WiFi - use free WiFi networks at RV parks, rest stops, and other public places.
Cable Internet - plug in when you can; this is most likely what you use at home, but hard to find on the road.
Each comes with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Look at each of these more closely and decide which might be the best option for WiFi and internet usage when searching for an RV rental.
Is there Roadside Assistance for Outdoorsy Rentals?
Our RV owner left a notebook in the campervan that helped us troubleshoot common questions and issues, so we never had need for calling the hotline. He was always a call away and happy to answer any questions.
What happens if you can’t reach the RV owner or you break down in the rental? Outdoorsy offers in-person support no matter where you are.
With their 24/7 RV Technical Support Hotline, they will help when need a tow or a jump start, if you lock your keys in your car, or get a flat tire or breakdown. It also covers delivery of fuel and emergency fluids and mobile mechanic service if necessary.
You’ll get help from ASE-certified technicians who are glad to assist with first level instructions, technical diagnosis, basic troubleshooting and common operational issues such as using slide outs, connecting power supply, operating RV appliances, and finding the closest service facility.
How Does Outdoorsy’s Insurance Work?
Your personal insurance will not likely cover you for an RV rental. But you should call and check!
So Outdoorsy offers three different levels of insurance from top-notch companies. Put your mind at ease and pick the best level of insurance for your rented RV.
No matter which package you pick, Outdoorsy rental insurance covers you for up to $1 million in liability coverage and up to $1 million in comprehensive and collision coverage.
Can I rent an rv for a big Family?
Yes! After a quick search, by clicking Amenities, you can choose how many people you would like to sleep, and even how many seatbelts you need, depending on the type of RV you are renting.
There are several Class C driveable RVs that sleep as many as 8 as well as Class A luxury motorhomes that sleep and seat as many as 8 too.
